We invite you to expand your knowledge of massage therapy by learning more about some of the specialized modalities we offer here at Resolve Wellness. We hope these articles illuminate the important role medical massage therapy can play in helping you feel your best!
Cupping has been used for centuries to alleviate pain and promote healing. While traditional forms of cupping involve the use of fire and glass cups, at Resolve Wellness we take a more modern approach. Our innovative gliding cupping technique offers a more comfortable and effective alternative to stationary cupping.
IASTM, also known as muscle scraping, can be beneficial for alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, and increasing range of motion! Unlike traditional massage techniques, which rely on the therapist's hands and fingers to apply pressure, IASTM tools can reach deeper layers of tissue and provide a more targeted pressure. This can be particularly effective in treating chronic pain and injuries that have not responded to other forms of treatment.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork. CST is a subtle therapy that involves the light holding of the skull and sacrum to circulate the cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord. The goal is to release compression in those areas which can alleviate stress and pain and ultimately restore the nervous system.
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) uses a gentle, rhythmic application of specific stretches and touches to the skin to help move fluid in the body into and through the lymphatic system. The goal is to relieve congestion in the lymphatic system to allow the body to restore health and balance, and this type of massage is often used as a preventative and postoperative treatment.
